This book isn't just another-cheesy-vampire story. This is actually my first time reading a victorian/vampire inspired story. The creativity is wonderful! The way the author creates a world of magic, danger and vampires kept me from holding onto this book from the very end. The characters seem to be a bit dry and plain; I didn't feel an impact or connection to the protagonist. It seems like the protagonist is sort of tiresome in a sense. The fact that she's too predictable and annoying didn't appeal to me at all. Although I do LOVE the other characters especially the protagonist's love interest. He was an awesome character and mysterious enough to make you wonder more about his past!
The plot flows very well! I really like how the author transitions the story very smoothly and not choppy and disorganized (this is actually the best part of the book).
It may not be Jane Austen but the writing is good not the best but it's passable; her words are clear and vivid enough to visualize them in my mind. Overall the book is great! Although there were some hits and misses on the characterization part but I am really looking forward reading onto the next one.
